These are the blocks I'm currently working on for my second QOV. Most of these strings were donated from New York (thanks, Pat!) and also used scraps from Louisiana, Montana, Indiana, and Ohio. I got the pattern idea from Mary (HeartStrings Quilt Project) on her website: maryquilts.com and is called The Patriotic Star.

How fun is that? To send one wounded Soldier a quilt that came from all over the nation? The blocks have not been squared up, yet. Solid red strip blocks will go in the corners. Then I'm thinking about a row of whites/lights in Chinese Coins, then another row of blue.

It looks lovely. Cann't wait to see the finished article. Sounds like it will be gorgeous.
Nice! White chineses coins and then blue diagonal stings would be a very nice finish.
That is absolutely fantastic!

I love this string quit! It has the look of a log cabin, but easier to make. I can't wait to see it finished.
Hi, Susan, your quilts are lovely! I especially love the way your QOV is turning out. I saw your post on the SB list about comments, so I hope this goes through OK. Take care -- Dianne B. in England
This is a test.... :) Pretty quilts!
I love your quilts of valor! What a neat idea to use the string quilt but to make the star shape. I hadn't thought of that. Enjoyed your blog! I'm attempting to leave a comment with just me email as you requested via stashbusters. We'll see how it works. Sally in SC
